freelance invoice template
“If you’re a freelancer looking for a freelance invoice example, this is for you!”
Are you a freelancer looking for a freelance invoice template? I’ve got you!
As a freelancer, you aren’t on a company’s payroll like a normal 9-5 job. Instead, you will have to send invoices to your clients in order to get paid. The easiest way to do this is to have a freelance invoice template that you could easily edit for each client within Canva.
What's a freelance invoice template?
A freelance invoice template, also known as a self employed invoice template, is a document that you can use for each of your clients when it’s time to get paid. Use this document to outline the work you’ve done for your clients in detail, define your rates, and set payment due dates.

Why is a freelancer invoice template necessary?
If you’re new to freelancing, you might not realize that companies do not usually put you on their payroll. Payment is an entirely different ball game when it comes to freelancing.
It’s in your hands to send invoices to your clients and track down your payments. Sometimes, clients will even forget to pay your invoices, and you will have to follow up with them to ensure you’re always paid for your work.
(This is one of the least pleasant parts of freelancing, not going to lie).
This freelance invoice template will save you time and make it easy for you to invoice your clients with just a few minor edits needed.

Here are four essential elements your freelance invoice must include to ensure it looks professional and remains valid for accounting and tax purposes.
Your full name: This might seem Pretty obvious, but you need to showcase your full name, not just your nick name or business name.
Your Client’s full name: You also need to have your clients full name. “Tom J.” isn’t good enough for your invoices.
business addresses: This part is essential! Make sure to list your business address (this is your home address if you don’t have a separate office space or P.o. box).
Your client’s business address: You need to list your clients’ address, so ensure you grab this from them before you start working together. (If you forget this, it will be a pain later down the line trying to back track and grab this from clients you no longer work with).
